Community Transport in Wrexham

Community Transport is aimed at people who live away from conventional public transport routes, need to make journeys which are difficult by public transport or suffer from mobility restrictions.

Community Transport is a wide range of specifically tailored transport solutions, designed to meet the needs of individuals and groups, as an alternative, when conventional methods are not appropriate.

Most importantly Community Transport is born, evolves and develops in the community, where it is owned by the community, for the community.

There are many different types of community transport, some of which operate in Wrexham:

Social Car Schemes

Two social car schemes, aimed at persons with restricted mobility, operate within the county, in the Glyn Ceiriog and Maelor areas, co-ordinated by the Womens Royal Voluntary Service using volunteer drivers.

The Chariotts Community Transport Scheme is designed for people with specific mobility difficulties. A small fleet of modern wheelchair accessible vehicles are used to transport clients.

If you are unable to use public transport as a result of these mobility difficulties and would be interested to know more about Chariotts, please contact George on 01978 312888.
