Ponciau Banks Park

After a successful bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund, Ponciau Banks Park officially re-opened after extensive refurbishment works in June 2009.

The Park is in Rhos.
Buses: 3 Arriva.
By Car: Turn off the A483 along the B5605 to Rhos. Turn right at traffic lights, up Gutter Hill/ Hill Street. Right at Queen Street by car dealership into Broad Street. Turn right into Peter Street and take second right onto Baptist Street. This will take you to the top of the Park. Enter the Park to park in top car park. There is also a lower car park off School Lane/ Clarke Street.

Crown Green Bowling

Two crown greens are situated onsite. The greens are played on regularly by the Ponciau Banks Park Bowls Club.

During the season, the team compete every other Tuesday afternoon, although they also meet some Wednesday afternoons and some weekday evenings.

In 2009, the Club successfully applied to the Community Chest Fund for ‘loan equipment’ which can be used by the community.

The Club welcomes all bowlers, whether beginner, intermediate or experienced.

Sports Courts

There are two sports courts at Ponciau Banks. One exclusively for tennis, and the second marked out for both tennis and basketball.

The Friends of Ponciau Banks

If you would like to have your say in the future development of Ponciau Banks, why not join “friends group”?

The group has been successful in raising money to spend on the park's facilities and activities. Raising money to run Annual Community Fun Days every September and purchasing equipment such as benches on the bowling greens.

Ponciau Banks needs volunteers working here throughout the year. They can contribute a great deal to the upkeep of the park which has been awarded the Green Flag for three years running.  Volunteers can work on many different tasks which include;

Children’s Play area

The Play Area is designed for toddlers and junior age groups, and is fenced off to prevent access by dogs.

The area contains toddler and junior swings, a roundabout, spring mobiles, climbing frames, a rotating bar and slides.

Gorsedd Circle

The standing stone circle commemorates the Park being used as an Eisteddfod site.
